Clerk Report 3/23/99
This is a status report of two of the directions given by the City Commission during the City
Commission meeting of March 23, 1999.
1.) Commissioner Teele directed the City Manager and the City Clerk to notify the public by
means of legal notices in periodicals, including The Miami Herald, as well as Cable Net 9 and the
rolling marquis at Bayfront Park, in connection with (1) overgrown lots to be cleared by the City
and charged to the property owner, (2) abandoned cars, and (3) unsafe structures.
Our office requested from the City Manager's office the appropriate language to advertise in
connection with the above directive. Attached please find a memorandum from Manuel W. Diaz,
NET Coordinator, which we used to prepare notices (copy attached) to be published in The Miami
Herald, Cable Net 9, rolling marquis at Bayfront Park, and other local media sources.
We have been informed by Ira Katz, Executive Director of Bayfront Park Management Trust, that
the marquis at Claude and Mildred Pepper Bayfront Park is displaying the public notice concerning
lot clearance.
2.) Chairman Plummer also directed the City Manager to schedule continued discussion and
full presentation of the proposed promotion and marketing of Miami at 9:30 a.m., before the
Commission meeting of April 27, 1999 officially convenes.
Our office has been advised by the Agenda Office that the above stated issue will be scheduled for
the May 11, 1999 agenda.
