Home My WebLink AboutR-00-1003• J-00-1003 11/14/00 RESOLUTION NO. 0 �.1 03 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENTS, OFFICIALLY ACCEPTING THE ATTACHED MIAMI-DADE COUNTY'S CERTIFICATION AND DECLARATION OF THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 2, HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 2000, IN WHICH THE CHARTER AMENDMENT TO PROVIDE, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2001, FOR A CHANGE IN THE COMPOSITION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF OFF-STREET PARKING ("DOSP") BOARD FROM FIVE MEMBERS APPOINTED BY THE BOARD ITSELF AND CONFIRMED BY THE CITY COMMISSION, TO SEVEN MEMBERS, BY ADDING THE MAYOR AS CHAIRPERSON OF THE BOARD AND BY ADDING ONE MEMBER APPOINTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION WAS DISAPPROVED BY THE ELECTORATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Miami -Dade County's Certification and Declaration of the Results of the Special Election for Charter Amendment No. 2, attached hereto and made a part hereof, held on November 7, 2000, in which a charter amendment to provide, effective January 1, 2001, for a change in the composition of the Department of Off-street Parking ("DOSP") Board from five members appointed by the Board itself and confirmed by the City �A C �6' � x CITY COI ISS%ON,, MEETING OF NOV 1 6 2000 � 13oEu2�no.� s� f. The City Commission needs to accept the certificate of the Miami -Dade County Canvassing Board, instead of the City Clerk's certification of the results of the November 7, 2000 City of Miami Special Election. Pursuant to Judge Gerstein on November 1, 2000, the charter amendment authorizing assets transfer and operation, management and control change for Off -Street Parking Department was removed from the ballot. Votes cast on this question were not counted. Charter amendment changing the composition of the Off -Street Parking Board from five to seven members was disapproved by the electorate (18,416 voting yes; 40,846 voting no).
