FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF HOLMATRO EXTRICATION TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES FOR. THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $27,168; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM ACCOUNT CODE NO. 313304.289401.6.850, AS FUNDED BY THE FIRE ASSESSMENT. WHEREAS, the Department of Fire -Rescue requires the procurement of Holmatro extrication tools and accessories to replace the existing ten -year -old extrication system; and WHEREAS, the Halmatro extrication tools will standardize all systems and provide for efficient maintenance and effective training, and allow for the use of the existing system for backup to ensure constant availability of life-saving devices; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-189 was mailed to nine (9) potential bidders; and WHEREAS, one (1) responsive bid was received on September 13, 2000; and CITY COMMISSION, MEETING OF NOV 9 6 2000 Resolution No. �0- 9M4 WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Fire -Rescue recommend that the bid received from Holmatro, Inc. be accepted as the only responsive and responsible bid; and WHEREAS, funds are available from Account Code No. 313304.289401.6.850, as funded by the Fire Assessment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on August 16, 2000 from Holmatro, Inc. for the procurement of Holmatro extrication tools and accessories for the Department of Fire -Rescue, in an amount not to exceed $27,168, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Account Code No. 313304.289401.6.850, as funded by the Fire Assessment. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.11 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. Pursuant to the above, nine (9) bids were mailed to potential vendors. In order to secure potential vendors, I spoke to Tony Barboza of Holmatro, Inc. manufacturer of this tools, who provided me with two (2) dealers who may bid this IFB. In further research I found out that there are no existing State or County contracts available for such tools. It seems to me that Holmatro have different sales territories and their dealers will not sell outside of those territories.
