FOR THE ACQUISITION OF SECURITY AND PARKING CONTROL PERSONNEL FOR SCHEDULED EVENTS FOR THE BAYFRONT PARK MANAGEMENT TRUST ("TRUST"), ON AN AS -NEEDED CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE (1) YEAR, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL ONE (1) YEAR PERIODS, IN AN ANNUAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $120,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET OF THE TRUST. WHEREAS, the Bayfront Park Management Trust ("Trust") requires the acquisition of security and parking control personnel to ensure the safety of the public at special events and concerts scheduled at the Mildred and Claude Pepper Bayfront Park and Bicentennial Park; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-161 was mailed to sixty (60) potential bidders; and WHEREAS, five (5) responsive bids were received on August 28, 2000; and WHEREAS, the Executive Director of' the Trust recommends that the bid received from DAK Security Agency, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and CITY Cop4mISSION NEETI.NC OF NOV 1 6 2000 teso7ution o d - t-4 7 WHEREAS, funds are available from the General Operating Budget of the Trust; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on August 28, 2000 from DAK Security Agency, Inc., for the acquisition.of security and parking control personnel for scheduled events for the Bayfront Park Management Trust ("Trust") on an as -needed contract basis for one (1) year, with the option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, in an annual amount not to exceed $120,000, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the General Operating Budget of the Trust. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.11 1� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission. It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting the bid received on August 28, 2000, from DAK Security Agency, Inc., a Non -minority, Miami -Dade County Vendor, for the provision of Special Event Security and Parking Control Personnel, for the Bayfront Park Management Trust, on an as needed contract basis for one (1) year with the option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, in an annual amount not to exceed $120,000, with funds therefore allocated from the Bayfront Park Management Trust Operating Budget. BACKGROUND The Bayfront Park Management Trust was created by the Miami City Commission to direct, operate, manage and maintain all aspects of Bayfront Park. Bayfront Park is the City of Miami's Premier public park, hosting 50 special events and concerts annually. Each of those events requires Special Event Security and Parking Control Personnel to ensure public safety. Pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No 99-00-161 were mailed to sixty (60) potential bidders. Five (5) responsive bids were received on August 28, 2000. Funds for this service are available from the Bayfront Park Management Trust Operating Budget. The Bayfront Park Management Trust and the Executive Director of the Bayfront Park Management recommend that the bid received from DAK Security Agency, Inc., be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid.
