HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-00-0976J-00-939 11/3/00 976 RESOLUTION NO. ® ® r A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE BID OF SOUTH FLORIDA MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR THE ACQUISITION OF MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL AND SERVICES FOR SPECIAL EVENTS FOR THE BAYFRONT PARK MANAGEMENT TRUST ("TRUST"), ON AN AS -NEEDED CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE (1) YEAR, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL ONE (1) YEAR PERIODS, IN AN ANNUAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $80,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET OF THE TRUST. WHEREAS, the Bayfront Park Management Trust ("Trust") requires the acquisition of maintenance personnel and services for the Mildred and Claude Pepper Bayfront Park and Bicentennial Park to host numerous special events and concerts; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-160 was mailed to fifty-nine (59) potential bidders; and WHEREAS, three (3) responsive bids were received on August 21, 2000; and WHEREAS, the Executive Director of the Trust recommends that the bid received from South Florida Maintenance Services, be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and CITY CONXISSION EETINC OF Resolution No. 00- 976 WHEREAS, funds are available from the General Operating Budget of the Trust; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on August 21, 2000 from South Florida Maintenance Services for the acquisition of maintenance personnel and services for special events for the Bayfront Park Management Trust ("Trust") on an as -needed contract basis for one (1) year, with the option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods., in an annual amount not to exceed $80,000, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the General Operating Budget of the Trust. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.11 1� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting the bid received on August 21, 2000, from South Florida Maintenance Services, an Hispanic, Miami - Dade County Vendor, for the provision of Special Event Cleaning Personnel, for the Bayfront Park Management Trust, on an as needed contract basis for one (1) year with the option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, in an annual amount not to exceed $80,000, with funds therefore allocated from the Bayfront Park Management Trust Operating Budget. BACKGROUND The Bayfront Park Management Trust was created by the Miami City Commission to direct, operate, manage and maintain all aspects of Bayfront Park. Bayfront Park is the City of Miami's Premier public park, hosting 50 special events and concerts annually. Each of those events requires Special Event Cleaning Personnel to maintain Bayfront Park as a safe a clean environment. Pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-160 were mailed to fifty-nine (59) potential bidders. Three (3) responsive bids were received on August 21, 2000. Funds for this service are available from the Bayfront Park Management Trust Operating Budget. The Bayfront Park Management Trust and the Executive Director of the Bayfront Park Management recommend that the bid received from South Florida Maintenance Services be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid.
