WHEREAS, the Bayfront Park Management Trust ("Trust") manages the Mildred and Claude Pepper Bayfront Park ("Bayfront Park") and Bicentennial Park; and WHEREAS, the Trust requires the acquisition of grounds maintenance services for Bayfront and Bicentennial Parks; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-158 was mailed to sixty-one (61) potential bidders; and WHEREAS, five (5) responsive bids were received on August 28, 2000; and WHEREAS, the Executive Director of the Trust recommends that the bid received from Lamenca Corporation be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and cl,ry comaISSION EF.TING OF 2tie��l anon NO, WHEREAS, funds are available from the General Operating Budget of the Trust; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The August 28, 2000 bid received from Lamenca Corporation, for the acquisition of grounds maintenance services for the Bayfront Park Management Trust ("Trust") on an as -needed contract basis for one (1) year, with the.option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, in an annual amount not to exceed $13,680, is hereby. accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the General Operating Budget of the Trust. Section 3.. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.11 11 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting the bid received on August 28, 2000, from Lamenca Corporation, an Hispanic, Miami -Dade County Vendor, for the provision of Grounds Maintenance Services at Bicentennial Park, for the Bayfront Park Management Trust, on an as needed contract basis for one (1) year with the option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, in an annual amount not to exceed $13,680, with funds therefore allocated from the Bayfront Park Management Trust Operating Budget. BACKGROUND The Bayfront Park Management Trust (Trust) manages Bayfront and Bicentennial Parks. One of the Trust's stated objective for Fiscal year 2000/2001 is to improve ongoing maintenance in Bayfront and Bicentennial Parks. The Trust has identified a need for ground maintenance services in Bicentennial Park. Pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No 99-00-158 were mailed to sixty- one (61) potential bidders. Five (5) responsive bids were received on August 28, 2000. Funds for this service are available from the Bayfront Park Management Trust Operating Budget.
