A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS AS MEMBERS OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI-AFFIRMATIVE ACTION -ADVISORY
BOARD FOR TERMS AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are hereby
appointed as members of the City of Miami Affirmative Action
Advisory Board, each to serve a term expiring February 8, 2001,
or until the nominating Commissioner leaves office, whichever
occurs first:

The Affirmative Action Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City
Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative action plan. The
board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to
the Department of Human Resources.
Six appointments are needed at this time:
• Commissioner Winton has two nominations:
1. One for vacant seat created because Sabrina Bouie, who had been nominated by
former Commissioner Plummer, resigned; and
2. One for vacant seat created because Rasha Soray, who had been nominated by
former Commissioner Plummer, resigned.
• Commissioner Teele has one nomination for seat currently held by Charles J. Flowers, who
has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code.
• Vice Chairman Gort has two nominations:
1. One for seat currently held by Ramiro Marrero, who has exceeded the number of
absences allowed by the City Code.
2. One for seat currently held by Luis Costa, who resigned.
• Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for seat currently held by Ivan Barrett, who
has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code.
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said. board. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the
October 26, 2000 Commission agenda.

I regret to inform you that I must resign for the Affirmative Action Board,
effective immediately. Dur 101 cccut Changes in my professional responsibilities,
I have had to cut back on all my extra -curricula activities, including these monthly
meetings.
