TS -400-14 GASOLINE - POWERED SAWS, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $9,398; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 313304, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 289401.6.840, AS FUNDED BY THE FIRE ASSESSMENT. WHEREAS, the Department of Police requires the procurement of three (3) Stihl Model No. TS -760-16, and ten (10) Stihl Model No. TS -400-14 gasoline powered saws to replace the current saws that have exceeded normal service life and frequently breakdown and require repair; and WHEREAS, the saws are used at fire scenes and in other emergencies to rescue victims; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-187 was mailed to ten (10) potential bidders; and and WHEREAS, two (2) responses were received on August 30, 2000; cirl COMMSSION MEETING OF Q C T 2 6 2000 liasotueioA iVo. Do- RAG WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of the Department of Fire -Rescue recommend that the bid received from Joe Blair Garden Supply, for the procurement of three (3) Stihl Model No. TS -760-16 gasoline -powered saws and ten (10) Stihl Model No. TS -400-14 gasoline -powered saws be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and WHEREAS, funds are available from Capital Improvement Project No. 313304, Account Code No. 289401.6.840, as funded by the Fire Assessment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on August 30, 2000, from Joe Blair Garden Supply, for the procurement of three (3) Stihl Model No. TS -760-16 gasoline -powered saws and ten (10) Stihl Model No. TS -400-14 gasoline -powered saws, for the Department of Fire-Res.cue, in an amount not to exceed $9,398, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Capital Improvement Project No. 313304, Account Code No. 289401.6.840, as funded by the Fire Assessment. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature.of the Mayor.!/ �i If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. BACKGROUND The Department of Fire -Rescue utilizes these types of saws at fire scenes and other emergencies to gain access to victims and property. An equipment failure can cause a life-threatening emergency and it is imperative that these saws are in reliable working condition at all times.
