Heart disease is OUR NATION'S NUMBER ONE KILLER, affecting more citizens of Miami -
Dade County than any other cause of death or disability. On October 21, 2000, over 7,000
residents of Miami -Dade County will step out to the Miami Seaquarium in the fight against
heart disease and stroke at the rAnnual American Heart Walk.
As we got closer to the month of October, we are working hard to ensure that all our logistical
arrangements are taken care of in order to make this year's Heart Walk a successful event.
This year, we are happy to announce our two Logistics Co -Chairs, Chief Antonio Bared and
Lieutenant Roman Bas, from the Miami -Dade Fre Rescue, who have been working hard to
guarantee that the day of the event runs smoothly. One of our most important items on the
list is making sure we have the parking facilities needed to meet the needs of the 7,000
participants we are expecting.
In looking through last year's files, the City of Miami good-naturedly waived all fees for the
use of the Virginia Beach Parking Lot on the day of the event. I wanted to thank you again for
your donation and request a personal appearance before the city commission. I am
requesting the City of Miami to once again grant us the use of the Old County Virginia Beach
Parking Lot as an in-kind donation for the morning of Saturday, October2l , 2000.
With your partnership, we will be able to reacfi'our goal of $400,000 (net with 10% expenses
or less). If you have any question, please feel free to give me a call at (305) 856-1449.
With Heartfelt Thanks
