WHEREAS, various City departments, including but not limited to, the Office of NET ("Neighborhood Enhancement Team") Administration and the Departments of Solid Waste, Police, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities, require the procurement of garbage/trash bags on an as -needed basis; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-214 was mailed to forty-eight (48) potential vendors; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF OCT 1 2 2000 Resolution No. 0e '573 • • WHEREAS, eleven (11) bids were received on July 24, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of Purchasing recommend that the bids received from Interboro Packaging Corporation, Dade Paper Company, Glinton Sales, Inc. and Calico Industries, Inc., for the procurement of garbage/trash bags be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bids on an item by item basis; and WHEREAS, funds are available from the budgets of the various user departments, subject to budgetary approval for said procurement; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bids received on July 24, 2000 from Interboro Packaging Corporation, Dade Paper Company, Glinton Sales, Inc. and Calico Industries, on an item by item basis, for the Department of Purchasing is hereby accepted for the procurement of garbage/trash bags to be used by various City departments, including but not limited to, the Office of NET ("Neighborhood Enhancement Team") Administration and the Departments of Solid Waste, Police, Public Works, Parks and Page 2 of 3 v® 873 Recreation, and Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities, on an as -needed contract basis, for one (1) year, with the option to renew for one (1) additional one (1) year period, at an annual amount not to exceed $25,000.00, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the budgets of the various user departments, subject to budgetary approval. BACKGROUND The Purchasing Department has seen the need to secure a contract for garbage/trash bags Citywide to be utilized by Solid Waste and other various City departments including but not limited to, Police, Public Facilities, Public Works, Parks & Recreation and NET. The Department of Purchasing analyzed bids received pursuant to Bid No. 99-00-214. Forty-eight (48) Invitations for Bids were mailed and eleven (11) bids were received Interboro Packaging Corporation, Dade Paper Company, Glinton Sales, Inc., and Calico Industries submitted the lowest responsible and responsive bids on and item by item basis and are, therefore, recommended for award.
