A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPOINTING AN INDIVIDUAL AS A MEMBER OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI AFFIRMATIVE ACTION ADVISORY
BOARD FOR A TERM AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individual is hereby appointed
as a member of the City of Miami Affirmative Action Advisory
Board, to serve a term expiring February 8, 2001:

The Affirmative Action Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City
Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative action plan. The
board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to
the Department of Human Resources.
Six appointments and one confirmation are needed at this time:
• Commissioner Winton has two nominations:
1. One for vacant seat created because Sabrina Bouie, who had been nominated by
former Commissioner Plummer, resigned; and
2. One for vacant seat created because Rasha Soray, who had been nominated by
former Commissioner Plummer, resigned.
• Commissioner Teele has one nomination for seat currently held by Charles J. Flowers, who
has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code.
• Vice Chairman Gort has two nominations:
1. One for seat currently held by Ramiro Marrero, who has exceeded the number of
absences allowed by the City Code.
2. One for seat currently held by Luis Costa, who has exceeded the number of
absences allowed by the City Code.
• Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for seat currently held by Ivan Barrett, who
has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code.
• The Commission at -large is requested to confirm Eloy Garcia, who was nominated by the
Miami Association of Fire Fighters to replace Edward Pidermann, who resigned.
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the
September 14, 2000 Commission agenda.

Board (Equid Employment Advisory Board). My duties as Vice President of the
Miami Association of Fire Fighters require that I dedicate a much greater amount
of time to that organization and I would be neglecting my responsibilities to the
Advisory Board.
