RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution ratifying
the City Manager's emergency action authorizing repair of the Air Conditioning Unit from
Temptrol Air Conditioning, Inc., at the Police Department's Central Headquarters Building, in an
amount not to exceed $8,049.92.
Funding is available from the Police General Operating Budget, Account Code No.
001000.290201.6.670.
BACKGROUND
The Police Department requested an emergency purchase order for the emergency repair of the Air
Conditioning (A/C) Unit at the Central Headquarters Building. Due to malfunctioning of the A/C
System, Temptrol Air Conditioning, Inc., was contacted and submitted an estimate for repairs
totaling $3,500. As the repairs were taking place, the technician found that the repairs were more
extensive than anticipated. Specifically, the pneumatic system was full of water and all the
dampers required replacement, prior to starting the air-conditioning chiller, to avoid any further
damage. Due to the critical need for air conditioning, these repairs could not be delayed any
further. These subsequent repairs, which were necessary for the proper functioning of the A/C
system, totaled an additional $4,549.92. Authorization was received from the City Manager for
air conditioning repairs performed by Temptrol Air Conditioning, Inc., under an Emergency
Purchase Order, in an amount not to exceed $8,049.92.
