A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE BID' OF AWARDS, INC., D/B/A TROPHY WORLD, FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF TROPHIES AND- PLAQUES FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE, ON AN AS NEEDED CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE (1) YEAR, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR TWO (2) ONE (1) .YEAR PERIODS, IN AN ANNUAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $14,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 001000.290201.6.270. WHEREAS, the Police Department requires the procurement of trophies and plaques for presentation at ceremonies recognizing outstanding achievements of employees and citizens of the community throughout.the year; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-147 was mailed to thirty (30) potential bidders; and WHEREAS, three (3) responsive bids were received on May 10, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of -Police recommend that the bid received from Awards, Inc., d/b/a Trophy World, be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF SEP 1 4 2000 Resolution No. WHEREAS, funds are available from the Department of Police General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.270; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on May 10, 2000 from Awards, Inc., d/b/a Trophy World, for the procurement of trophies and plaques for the Department of'Police, on an as needed contract basis for one (1) year, with the option to renew for two (2) one (1) year periods, in an annual amount not to exceed $14,000, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Department of Police General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.270. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.!/ �i If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date i,t was passed and adopted. BACKGROUND The Department of Police sponsors numerous award presentations throughout the year. These presentations recognize the outstanding achievements of employees and members of the community. The. awards serve to motivate the employees to excel in their assignment and encourage community participation. This bid will be used for the purpose of purchasing awards to be presented at these ceremonies. The Department of Police has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 99-00-147 for the procurement of trophies and plaques. Thirty (30) invitations for bids were mailed and three (3) responses were received.
