INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM CA9
TO, The Honorable Mayor and Members
of the City Commission
RECOMMENDATION
DATE: AUG 2 9 2001
SUBJECT: Authorizing the Purchase of
Pedestrian Type Barricades
REFERENCES: Bid No. 99-00-182
ENCLOSURES:
FILE :
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting
the bid of The Tamis Group, a Non-Minority/Non-Local vendor, located at 134 Pennoak Drive,
Pittsburgh, PA 15235, for the purchase of Pedestrian Type Barricades, for the Department of
Police, in an amount not to exceed $7,880.
Funding will be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Numbers 690001,
690002, and 690003.
BACKGROUND
The Department of Police has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 99-00-182 for the
purchase of Pedestrian Type Barricades. Thirty-four (34) invitations for bids were mailed and
three (3) responses were received. The Tamis Group, submitted the lowest most responsible and
responsive bid and is, therefore recommended for award.
The Police Department has been borrowing barricades from the Orange Bowl, which due to the
transport requirements of these devices complicates the coordination efforts during a mobilization
or crowd control situation. Purchasing barricades will enable the Police Department to deploy the
barricades in an efficient manner thereby. streamlining this aspect of crowd control/mobilization
function.
