A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE BID OF ERIC'SOUTBOARD MARINE SERVICE, INC., FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF TWO (2) NEW CAROLINA SKIFF V-198 DIVE BOATS, WITH YAMAHA 130TLRY OUTBOARD MOTORS AND TRAILERS, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $29,655.29; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 313304, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 289401.6.840, AS FUNDED BY FIRE ASSESSMENT. WHEREAS, the Department of Fire -Rescue requires two (2) new Carolina Skiff V-198 dive boats, with Yamaha 130TLRY outboard motors and trailers; and WHEREAS, the vessels are necessary for training and certification of the dive rescue team in water search and rescue techniques; and WHEREAS, one vessel will be used as the front line dive boat and the other will be used as the back-up vessel; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-179R was mailed to fourteen (14) potential bidders; and WHEREAS, two (2) responsive bids were received on June 14, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Fire -Rescue recommend that the bid received from Eric's Outboard Marine CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF, SEP 1 4 2000 kesolucion No. 725 Service, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and WHEREAS, funds are available from Capital Improvement Project No. 313304, Account Code No. 289401.6.840, as funded by the Fire Assessment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on June 14, 2000 from Eric's Outboard Marine Service, Inc. for the procurement of two (2) new Carolina Skiff V-198 dive boats, with Yamaha 130TLRY outboard motors and trailers, for the Department of Fire -Rescue, pursuant to Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-179R, in an amount not to exceed $29,655.29, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Capital Improvement Project No. 313304, Account Code No. 289401.6.840, as funded by the Fire Assessment. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'/ �i If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. BACKGROUND The Department of Fire -Rescue has a dive rescue team that responds to drowning and water accidents in this type of vessel. To be fully capable in meeting the needs of the community, one vessel will be utilized as the front line dive boat and the other vessel will be utilized in case of down time and for training purposes to keep the Dive Team members certified and current with water search and rescue techniques.
