A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE BID OF MAGNUM ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES, INC., FOR THE ACQUISITION OF WASTE OIL REMOVAL SERVICES AT VARIOUS CITY OF MIAMI FACILITIES, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PURCHASING, ON A CONTRACT BASIS, FOR ONE (1) YEAR, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL ONE (1) YEAR PERIODS, IN AN ANNUAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $50,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE BUDGETS OF THE VARIOUS USER DEPARTMENTS, CONDITIONED UPON BUDGETARY APPROVAL PRIOR TO ACQUISITION. WHEREAS, the Purchasing Department has a need to contract for waste oil removal services at various City of Miami facilities, in compliance with hazardous materials disposal laws; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-135 was mailed to twenty-three (23) potential vendors; and WHEREAS, two (2) bids were received on July 10, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of Purchasing recommend that the bid received from Magnum Environmental Services, Inc., for the acquisition of waste oil. removal CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF SEP 1 4 2000 ,Resolution No. 00-- '722 • 0 services, be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and WHEREAS, funds will be allocated from the budgets of the various user departments, conditioned upon budgetary approval prior to acquisition; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on July 10, 2000 from Magnum Environmental Services, Inc., for the acquisition of waste oil removal services at various City of Miami. facilities, for the Department of Purchasing, on a contract basis, for one (1) year, with the option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, in an annual amount not to exceed $50,000, is hereby accepted, with .funds therefor hereby allocated from the budgets of the various user departments, conditioned upon budgetary approval prior to acquisition. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'/ �i If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. Funds will be allocated from the various City Department's budgets at the time of need. BACKGROUND The Purchasing Department has seen the need to secure a contract for Waste Oil Removal Services Citywide. The Department of Purchasing analyzed bids received pursuant to Bid No. 99-00-135. Twenty-three (23) Invitation for Bids were mailed out and two (2) bids were received. Magnum Environmental Services Inc. submitted the lowest responsible and responsive bid and is, therefore, recommended for award.
