A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE BID OF CRYSTAL SPRINGS WATER COMPANY, FOR THE CITYWIDE PROCUREMENT OF DRINKING WATER SERVICES AND SUPPLIES, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PURCHASING, ON AN AS NEEDED CONTRACT BASIS, FOR ONE (1) YEAR, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL ONE (1) YEAR PERIODS, IN AN ANNUAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $35,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE BUDGETS OF THE VARIOUS USER DEPARTMENTS CONDITIONED UPON BUDGETARY APPROVAL PRIOR TO ACQUISITION. WHEREAS, the Department of Purchasing has a need to secure a Citywide contract for drinking water that allows various user departments to purchase drinking water on an as needed basis; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-238R was mailed to twelve (12) potential vendors; and WHEREAS, two (2) bids were received on July 31, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of Purchasing recommend that the bid received from Crystal Springs Water CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF SEP 1 4 2000 Resolution No. 0®— 721.''i I Company, for the purchase of drinking water and supplies be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and WHEREAS, funds will be allocated from the budgets of various user departments, conditioned upon budgetary approval prior to procurement; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received. on July 31, 2000 from Crystal Springs Water Company for the Citywide procurement of drinking water and supplies, for the Department of Purchasing, pursuant to Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-238R, on an as needed contract basis for one (1) year, with the option to renew for two (2) additional one-year periods, at an annual amount not to exceed $35,000, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the budgets of the various user departments, conditioned upon budgetary approval prior to procurement. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'/ �i If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission. Funds will be allocated from the various user department's budgets at the time of need. BACKGROUND The Purchasing Department has seen the need to secure a contract for water services Citywide. Among the major users of this service are the following City departments/divisions: Police Department Fire Training College General Services Adminstration The Department of Purchasing analyzed bids received pursuant to Bid No. 99-00-238R. Twelve (12) Invitation for Bids were mailed out and two (2) bids were received. Crystal Spring Water Company submitted the lowest responsible and responsive bid and is, therefore, recommended for award.
