HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-00-0700J-00-682 7/27:/..00 RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING A CONTRIBUTION TO THE OVERTOWN COMMUNITY OPTIMIST CLUB, INC. AND ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $6,250, FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT NUMBERS 690001, 690002, AND 690003, SUCH EXPENDITURES HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING," AND SECTION 932.7055, FLORIDA STATUTES, AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of the Treasury "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and Section 932.7055, Florida Statutes, as amended, authorizes the expenditure of forfeiture cash or proceeds for certain law enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and WHEREAS, the Police Department is committed to the education and development of the youth of the community; and WHEREAS, the Overtown Community Optimist Club, Inc. will be sponsoring the "Overtown Come Alive -Y2K" festival'. on August 18-20, 2000 at Gibson Park, inviting the. community to participate in a variety of activities for a fundraiser- to provide programs and services to the youth of the community; and WHEREAS, the funds will be used to assist with the expenses related to the festival; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF J U L 2 7 2000 Resolution No. iju-- X100 WHEREAS, the funds to cover this expenditure have not been included in the Police Department's normal operating budget and are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of this Resolution and has determined that the expenditures proposed comply with. the U.S. Department of the Treasury "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and Section 932.7055, Florida Statutes, as amended NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The contribution to the Overtown Community Optimist Club, Inc., is hereby authorized, with funds therefor, in an amount not to exceed $6,250, hereby allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund Project Numbers 690001, 690002, and 690003, such expenditure having been approved by the Chief of Police as complying with the U. S. Department of the Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing," and Section 932.7055, Florida Statutes, as amended. Page 2 of 3 UU Nu �r • Section 3.
