HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-00-0684J-00-672 7/27/00 RESOLUTION NO. 00— 8 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION APPROVING THE PROCUREMENT AND INSTALLATION OF PARK EQUIPMENT, FURNISHINGS, SHELTERS AND COURT RESURFACING FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION FROM VARIOUS VENDERS, UNDER EXISTING MIAMI-DADE CONTRACTS NO. 4907-3/98-2 AND NO. 1153-0/01, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $109,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS BONDS, AS APPROPRIATED IN ORDINANCE NO. 11748, AS AMENDED, THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS ORDINANCE, AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS. WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation requires the procurement of park equipment, furnishings, shelters and court resurfacing at various City parks; and WHEREAS, in an effort to expedite the implementation of projects to be completed, the City seeks to utilize Miami -Dade County Contracts No. 4907-3/98-2 and No. 1153-0/01; and WHEREAS, funds are available from Safe Neighborhood Parks Bonds, as appropriated in Ordinance No. 11748, as amended, the Annual Appropriations Ordinance, and Capital Improvement Projects; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF j J U L 2 7 2000 �ese�ution 1V,o. WHEREAS,, the City Manager and the Director of Parks and Recreation recommend the procurement and installation of park equipment, furnishings, shelters and court resurfacing at various City parks from various vendors, under existing Miami -Dade County Contracts No. 4907-3/98-2 and No. 1153-0/01; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The procurement of and installation of park equipment, furnishings, shelters and court resurfacing for the Department of Parks and Recreation from various venders, under existing Miami -Dade Contracts No. 4907-3/98-2 and No. 1153-0/01, in an amount not to exceed $109,000, with fund therefor hereby allocated from Safe Neighborhood Parks Bonds, as appropriated in Ordinance No. 11748, as amended, the Annual Appropriations Ordinance, and Capital Improvement Projects. A. im ez REFERENCES : Equipment, City Manager Furnishings, cM OSURe3: Shelters and Court Rapurfa .ing RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the purchase and installation of park equipment, furnishings, shelters and court resurfacing at various City parks from various vendors under existing Miami -Dade County Contracts No. 4907-3/98-2 and No. 1153-0/01 for a total amount not to exceed $109,000 for the Department of Parks and Recreation. Funding is available from Safe Neighborhood Park Bonds and from Impact Fees appropriated under Section VI of the City's General Appropriation Ordinance No. 11748, as amended, adopted January 12, 1999. BACKGROUND: The City of Miami Parks and Recreation Department has identified funds for the purchase and installation of park equipment, furnishings, shelters and court resurfacing at various City parks. In order to expedite the implementation of this project the City desires to utilize Miami -Dade County Contracts No. 4907-3/98-2 and No. 1153-0/01 in an amount not to exceed $109,000. The Departments of Purchasing and Parks and Recreation have realized a substantial cost and time savings utilizing the Miami -Dade County Contracts for said services.
