A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
ACCEPTING A DONATION OF GUNLOCKS FROM THE
NATIONAL SHOOTING SPORTS FOUNDATION, WITH AN
ESTIMATED VALUE OF $50,000, CONSISTING OF
5,000 GUNLOCKS, AS A PART OF ITS PROJECT
HOMESAFE PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Project HomeSafe is a nationwide program to educate
owners of firearms on the safe handling and storage of firearms
and the program provides free gunlocks and safety information to
police departments for distribution to local residents;
WHEREAS, the Department of Police has been offered a
donation of 5,000 Gun Locks from the National Shooting Sports
Foundation ("NSSF") as part of its Project HomeSafe program; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.

Section 2. The donation of 5,000 gunlocks, with an
estimated value of, $50,000, from the National Shooting Sports
Foundation, as a part of its Project HomeSafe program, is hereby
accepted.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adopt I ion and signature of the Mayor.'/

If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting
the donation of 5,000 Gun Locks from the National Shooting Sports Foundations (NSSF) to be
distributed by the Police Department to City of Miami residents.
BACKGROUND
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is donating 5,000 Gun Locks to the Police
Department as part of their Project HomeSafe. Project HomeSafe is a focused nation wide
program. The goal of this program is to educate firearms owners on the safe handling and storage
of their firearms. Project HomeSafe provides Safety Kits, which include a free gun lock (at a value
of $10 per lock) and safety information to police departments for distribution to local residents.
