MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $500,000, FOR SPECIAL OVERTIME PAY TO CONDUCT VEHICLE IMPOUNDMENT PROGRAM STING OPERATIONS; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT NOS. 690002 AND 690003, SUCH EXPENDITURES HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY AND JUSTICE'S "GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING" AND SECTION 932.7055, FLORIDA STATUTES. WHEREAS, the Department of the Treasury and Justice's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and Section 932.7055, Florida Statutes, as amended, authorize the expenditure of forfeiture cash or proceeds for certain law enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and WHEREAS, funds are required for special overtime pay during Fiscal Year 2000-2001 to conduct Vehicle Impoundment Program Sting Operations, which are pro -active crime operations that target narcotics and prostitution; and WHEREAS, funds for this expenditure have not been included in the Police Department's normal operating budget and are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund; and CITY GOMUSSION MEETING OF. JUL 2 7 2000 WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of this Resolution and has determined that the proposed expenditures comply with the U. S. Department of the Treasury and Justice's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and Section 932.7055, Florida Statutes, as amended; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The allocation of funds, in an amount not to exceed $500,000, for special overtime pay to conduct Vehicle Impoundment Program Sting Operations, is hereby authorized, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Nos. 690002 and 690003, such expenditures having been approved by the Chief of Police as complying with the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Justice's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and Section 932.7055, Florida Statutes, as amended.
