WHEREAS, the Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities requires lawn maintenance services for the Coconut Grove Convention Center and Dinner Key Marina; and WHEREAS, a shortage of staff exists for the repairs and maintenance of the grounds and facilities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-059 was mailed to fifty-two (52) potential bidders; and WHEREAS, eight (8) bids were received on April 19, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities recommend that the bid received from Superior Landscaping, be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF J U L 2 7 2000 Resolution No. 00— 0 0 WHEREAS, funds are available from the Operating Budgets of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Account No. 415000.350201.340, in the amount of $12,878.04, and the Dinner Key Marina, Account No. 414000.350506.340, in the amount of $7,509.96; NOW; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings. contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on April 19, 2000, from Superior Landscaping for the provision of lawn maintenance services for the Coconut Grove Convention Center and the Dinner Key Marina, for the Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities, pursuant to Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-059, on a contract basis for one (1) year with the option to renew for two (2) additional one-year periods, in an annual amount not to exceed $20,388.00, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Operating Budgets of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Account No. 415000.350201.340, in the amount of $12,878.04 and the Dinner Key Marina, Account No. 414000.350506.340, in the amount of $7,509.96. Section 3. Funding is available from the operating budgets of both facilities in the following amounts: Coconut Grove Convention Center account number 415000.350201.340 in the amount of $12,878.04 and Dinner Key Marina account number 414000.350506.340 .in the amount of $7,509.96. BACKGROUND The Purchasing Department has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 99-00-059. Of the seven (7) companies submitting a bid, Superior Landscaping submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid, and it is recommended that the bid be awarded to them. Both the Coconut Grove Convention Center and the Dinner Key Marina operate with very small staff. Because of the lack of available manpower and resources for grounds maintenance, the condition of the grounds has deteriorated.
