Funding is available from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Numbers 690001, 690002 and 690003. BACKGROUND The Department of Police has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 99-00-134. Thirty- three (33) invitations for Bids were mailed and one (1) response was received. InterAmerican Car Rental, Inc., submitted the only responsive and responsible bid meeting specifications and is, therefore, recommended for the award. It has also been determined that the selection of insurance coverage, as provided under Option A of the Bid Tabulation Form is in the best interest of the City of Miami. Option A limits the City's accident deductible payment to one hundred dollars ($100.00) per occurrence. The cost for each rental vehicle with this option is $765.00 per month. The Police Department has a need for rental vehicles. Use of unmarked rental vehicles is an effective law enforcement tool, which can be used to reduce the risk factors to officers involved in undercover operations, and has been highly successful in the past.
