A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT TO DEVELOP APPROPRIATE LEGISLATION THAT WOULD ESTABLISH "GATEWAYS" TO OVERTOWN AT 8" STREET AND NORTHWEST 3RD AVENUE, 8T11 STREET AND 3RD COURT, 14TH STREET AND THE FEC RAILROAD TRACKS, 8T11 STREET AND THE FEC RAILROAD TRACKS, 20TH STREET AND THE FEC RAILROAD. TRACKS AND NORTHWEST 7TH AVENUE AND 14TH STREET., MIAMI, FLORIDA, AND TO PROVIDE RESTRICTED AC`T'IVITIES AND ESTABLISH APPROPRIA'T'E USES SUCH AS GREENSPACE, MONUMENTS, PUBLIC ART AND OTHER SUCH AMENITIES; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER'.TO PROVIDE PHOTOGRAPHS WHICH DEPICT AND ILLUSTRATE THE AREA AS IT PRESENTLY EXISTS; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO REPORT HIS FINDINGS TO THE CITY COMMISSION WITHIN THIRTY ( 3 0 ) DAYS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby directed to instruct the Planning Department to develop appropriate legislation that would establish "Gateways" to Overtown at 8th Street and Northwest 3rd Avenue, 8TH Street and CITY COMmsSION MEETIFdG OF J U N - U0 2000 kesolution, 111o. 3rd Court, 14th Street and the FEC railroad tracks, 8th Street and the FEC railroad tracks, 20th Street and the FEC railroad tracks and Northwest 7th Avenue and 14th Street, Miami, Florida, and to provide restricted activities and establish appropriate uses such as green space, monuments, public art and other such amenities.. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby directed to provide photographs which depict and illustrate the area as it presently exists. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby further directed to report the findings to the City Commission within thirty (30) days. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor." �i If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
