" 0 4 3 5 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE BID OF WEATHERTROL MAINTENANCE, FOR THE PROCUREMENT AND INSTALLATION OF AN AIR CONDITIONING CHILLER FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $36,400; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE E-911 OPERATING BUDGET, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 196002.290461.6.840. WHEREAS, the Department of Police needs to purchase an air conditioning chiller; and WHEREAS, the emergency backup air conditioning chiller, used primarily to cool the communications unit, is approximately 22 years old and no longer cost effective to repair; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bid: No. 99-00-077 were mailed. to fifty-two (52) potential bidders; and WHEREAS, six (6) bids were received on March 27, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Police recommend that the bid received from Weathertrol Maintenance for the P9T O OF KAY 2 5 2000 k esolution; N_ Pp procurement and installation of an air conditioning chiller be accepted, based on the local preference Ordinance, as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and WHEREAS, funds are available from E-911 Operating Budget, Account Code No. 196002.290461.6.840; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: .Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto -and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on March 27, 2000, from Weathertrol Maintenance, for the procurement and installation of an air conditioning chiller, for the Department of Police, pursuant to Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-077, in an amount not to exceed $36,400, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the E-911 Operating Budget, Account Code 196002.290461.6.840. Funding is available from the E-911 Operating Budget, Account Code No. 196002.290461.6.840. BACKGROUND The Department of Police has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 99-00-077. Fifty- two (52) Invitations for Bids were mailed and six (6) responses were received. Based on the local preference Ordinance, Weathertrol Maintenance submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid and is, therefore, recommended for the award. The Police Department's emergency backup air conditioner chiller, which is used primarily to cool the Communications Unit in the event of major failure to the main air conditioning system, is broken beyond repair. The backup air conditioner chiller is approximately 22 years old, and is no longer cost effective to repair.
