HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-00-0353J-00-337 4/12/00 • RESOLUTION NO. 10 0 - ,r '0 • A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 99-285, ADOPTED APRIL 27, 1999, WHICH APPROVED THE FINDINGS OF THE EVALUATION COMMITTEE THAT LAW ENFORCEMENT PSYCHOLOGICAL AND COUNSELING ASSOCIATES, INC., PROVIDE PRE-EMPLOYMENT PSYCHOLOGICAL SCREENING AND PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING SERVICES TO THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE, TO REFLECT AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $217,000 ANNUALLY. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 99-285, adopted April 27, 1999, accepted the recommendation of the City Manager to approve the findings of the Evaluation Committee that Law Enforcement Psychological and Counseling Associates, Inc., is the most qualified firm to provide pre-employment psychological screening and psychological counseling services to the Department of Police; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 99-285, further authorized the City Manager to execute an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with the Law Enforcement Psychological and Counseling Associates, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $217,000, for an initial term of two years, with the option to extend for two additional one-year periods, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.270; and i CITY COMUSMOIN MEETING OF APP 2 7 2000 Resolution �t0. iJ a WHEREAS, Resolution 99-285, adopted April 27, 1999, failed to reflect the allocation of $217;000 for each year of the contract; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Resolution No. 99-285, adopted April 27, 1999, is hereby amended in the following particulars:l/ "Resolution 99-285 Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with the Law Enforcement Psychological and Counseling Associates, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $217,000 annually, for an initial term of two years, with the option to extend for two additional one-year periods, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.270. Warshaw City Manager RECOMMENDATION DATE SUBJECT: 0 APR 1 l 2000 16 Proposed Resolution FILE: REFERENCES: Pre -Employment Psychological ENCLOSURES: Screening and Psychological Counseling Services It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution amending Resolution No. 99-285, adopted on April 27ffi, 1999, to correct a scrivener's error to reflect the cost for the provision of Psychological Pre -Employment Screening and Psychological Counseling Services from Law Enforcement Psychological & Counseling Associates, Inc., for an amount not to exceed $217,000 annually. BACKGROUND The Department of Police requires pre-employment psychological screening of all sworn job applicants, and psychological counseling services for its employees. Pursuant to a Request for Proposal #97-98-094, for said services, Law Enforcement Psychological and Counseling Associates, Inc., as sole respondent, was deemed most advantageous by the Evaluation Committee to be responsive in all aspects of the proposal and therefore awarded the contract. Resolution No. 99-285 did not properly reflect the amount of compensation to be paid to the provider for the two-year term. This resolution will correct a scrivener's error to reflect the annual cost in the amount of $217,000, for the provision of pre-employment psychological screening and psychological counseling services for the Police Department in the amount of $217,000.
