A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
ACCEPTING THE BID OF MIRI CONSTRUCTION INC. ,
FOR THE PROJECT ENTITLED "SW 32 AVENUE PAVING
PROJECT, 2-4614" IN THE AMOUNT OF
$332,977.75, TOTAL BID OF THE PROPOSAL;
ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM PROJECT
NO. 341170 AS APPROPRIATED BY ORDINANCE
NOS. 11705, AS AMENDED, AND 11839, THE ANNUAL
APPROPRIATIONS AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT
PROJECTS ORDINANCES, IN THE AMOUNT OF
$332,977.75 THE CONTRACT COST, $43,645.46
EXPENSES, .TOTAL ESTIMATED COST OF
$376,623.21; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE
TO THE CITY ATTORNEY.
WHEREAS pursuant to public notice Invitations for Bids for
"S.W. 32 Avenue Paving Project, B-4614" were mailed to 195
potential bidders, and;
WHEREAS, three bids were received March 21, 2000; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department
of Public Works recommend that the bid from Miri Construction,
Inc., be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid;
and
WHEREAS, funds are available under Project No. 341170 as
appropriated by Ordinance Nos. 11705, as amended, and 11839, the
Annual Appropriations and Capital Improvement Projects
Ordinances;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF

MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The March 21, 2000 bid of Miri Construction,
Inc., in the proposed amount of $332,977.75, for the project
entitled "S.W. 32 AVENUE PAVING PROJECT, B-4614" for the total bid
of the proposal, based on lump sum and unit prices, is hereby
accepted, at the bid price stated therein.
Section 3. The total estimated project cost of
$376,623.21 is hereby allocated from Project No. 341170, as
appropriated by Ordinance Nos. 11705, as amended, and 11839, the
Annual Appropriations and Capital Improvement Projects Ordinances.
Total project costs consist of $332,977.75 the contract cost and
$43,645.46 estimated expenses incurred by the City.
Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized" to
execute an agreement, in a form acceptable -to the City Attorney,
with Miri Construction, Inc., for. the "S.W. 32 Avenue Paving
Project, B-4614", for the total bid of the proposal.
�i The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all
requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not
limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.

Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor./

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached
resolution accepting the bid of Miri Construction Inc., a company located in Miami -
Dade County and not within the City of Miami, whose principal is Dionisio Suarez,
Vice -President, for "32 Avenue Paving Project, B-4614", received March 21, 2000 in
the amount of $ 332,977.75, Total Bid; authorizing the City Manager to enter into a
contract on behalf of the City.
No work history with the City of Miami within the past three years.

Discussion: The Department of Public Works has evaluated the bids received on
March 21, 2000, and determined that the lowest responsible and responsive bid, in
the amount of $ 332,977.75 is from Mid Construction Inc., a Hispanic -minority
controlled corporation. Funds are available to cover the contract cost, and for such
incidental items as postage, blueprinting, advertising, reproduction costs, testing,
etc.
