A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE BID OF SOIL TECH DISTRIBUTORS, INC., PURSUANT TO INVITATION FOR BIDS NO. 99-00-051, FOR THE PURCHASE OF RED CLAY AND SILICA SAND, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $18,082.50, ON AN AS NEEDED CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE (1) YEAR WITH THE OPTION TO EXTEND FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL ONE (1) YEAR PERIODS; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION OPERATING BUDGET ACCOUNT CODE NO. 001000-580302.6.712. WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has a need to purchase red clay and silica sand for the maintenance of the baseball fields and playground areas at various City parks; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-051 were mailed to twenty-one (21) potential bidders; and WHEREAS, five (5) bids were received on March 8, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of Parks and Recreation recommend that the bid received by Soil Tech Distributors, Inc., be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING ,OF APR 7 7 2000 Resolution No. I WHEREAS, funds are available from the Department of Parks and Recreation Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.580302.6.712; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received from Soil Tech Distributors, Inc., pursuant to Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-051, for the purchase of red clay and silica sand, for the Department of Parks and Recreation, in an amount not to exceed $18,082.50, on an as needed contract basis for one (1) year with the option to extend for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, is hereby approved, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Department of Parks and Recreation Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.580302.6.712. Warshaw REFERENCES: Parks and Recreation City Manager ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting the bid from Soil Tech Distributors, Inc., located at 14400 N.W. 102nd Avenue, Miami, Florida 33018, a Miami -Dade County/non-minority vendor, in the amount of $18,082.50 for the purchase of red clay and silica sand for the Department of Parks and Recreation. Funding is available from the FY '99-`00, Parks and Recreation Department Operating Budget, Account No. 001000-580302.6.712 BACKGROUND: The City of Miami Parks and Recreation Department, provides - maintenance services through its Operation's Division. Supplies are of vital importance to maintain our park's baseball and playground areas. These materials need to be readily available for the successful maintenance of our parks. Pursuant to public notice, five (5) bids were received related to Bid No. 99-00-51, for red clay and silica sand. The Department of Parks and Recreation has analyzed the bids received pursuant to said bid. Award of the bid is recommended to Soil Tech Distributors, Inc., which submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid.
