I have extensive experience in the cultural resources field in the Miami and south Florida area and would welcome an appointment to the HEP board to contribute my knowledge and experience. I believe the City of Miami, lacking their own staff archaeologist, would benefit from having an archaeologist/historian on their preservation board. The addition of an archaeologist would bring a fresh approach to issues that may arise during permit and plan reviews that may require the expertise needed and not currently provided by a historian lacking the field experience. I also have experience dealing with environmental issues (wetland identification, mitigation, flora and fauna identification, hammock restoration, etc.), mostly as then relate to cultural resources.
