HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-00-0320J-00-357 4/13/00 RESOLUTION NO. 00— 320 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INFORM THE MIAMI RIVER COMMISSION OF ALL IMPENDING RESOLUTIONS, ORDINANCES OR ISSUES TO BE CONSIDERED BY THE CITY COMMISSION CONCERNING THE MIAMI RIVER AND SURROUNDING AREAS; FURTHER REQUESTING THAT THE MIAMI RIVER COMMISSION ISSUE AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT PRIOR TO CITY COMMISSION DELIBERATION OF SUCH ISSUES WHICH SHALL IDENTIFY THE IMPACT, IF ANY, OF ENVIRONMENTAL, ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, RECREATIONAL OR AESTHETIC MATTERS RELATED TO THE MIAMI RIVER; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED OFFICIALS. WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature recently established the Miami River Commission as the official coordinating clearinghouse for all public policy and projects related to the Miami River to unite all governmental agencies, businesses and residents in the area to speak with one voice on river issues; and WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission would benefit from the Miami River Commission's expertise when considering environmental, economic, social, recreational and aesthetic issues related to the improvement of the Miami River and surrounding areas; CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF APR 13 2000 Resolution No. it o 2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby directed to inform the Miami River Commission of all impending resolutions, ordinances or issues to be considered by the Miami City Commission concerning the Miami River and surrounding areas. Section 3. The Miami River Commission is hereby requested to issue an official statement prior to City Commission deliberation of such issues which shall identify the impact, if any, of environmental, economic, social, recreational or aesthetic matters related to the Miami River. Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Miami River Commission and the Director of the Department of Real Estate and Economic Development.
