A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
ENDORSING THE REVITALIZATION OF BICENTENNIAL
PARK AS A PREMIER FACILITY; FURTHER DIRECTING
THE CITY MANAGER TO INITIATE A PLANNING
PROCESS FOR THE REDESIGN OF BICENTENNIAL PARK
BY SOLICITING THE JOINT EFFORTS OF THE MAYOR,
CITY STAFF, OUTSIDE CONSULTANTS, THE BAYFRONT
PARK MANAGEMENT TRUST, PARKS ADVISORY BOARD,
WATERFRONT ADVISORY BOARD, DOWNTOWN
DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, URBAN ENVIRONMENTAL
LEAGUE, MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC, AND
OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES.
WHEREAS, Bicentennial Park is currently managed by the
Bayfront Park Management Trust; and
WHEREAS, the condition of Bicentennial Park has deteriorated
and requires revitalization to provide secure and accessible open
space that is attractive for residents and tourists; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to initiate a planning
process for the redesign of Bicentennial Park as a premier public
park for the City of Miami; and
WHEREAS, Bicentennial Park will be redesigned in order to
aid the revitalization of Overtown, Park West and the Omni area;
and

WHEREAS, the planning process for the redesign of
Bicentennial Park shall include input solicited from the Mayor,
City staff, outside consultants, the Bayfront Park Management
Trust, Parks Advisory Board, Waterfront Advisory Board, Downtown
Development Authority, Urban Environmental League, members of the
general public, and other interested parties;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The City Commissioner hereby endorses the
revitalization of Bicentennial Park as a premier facility.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to
initiate a planning process for the redesign of Bicentennial Park
by soliciting.the joint efforts of the Mayor, City staff, outside
consultants, the Bayfront Park Management Trust, the Parks
Advisory Board, Waterfront Advisory Board, Downtown Development
Authority, Urban Environmental League, members of the general
public, and other interested parties.

Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon
its adoption and signature of the Mayor'.

If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
