Home My WebLink AboutR-00-0299J-00-276 3/31/00 RESOLUTION NO. 00— 2 9 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE BID OF WEATHERTROL MAINTENANCE, PURSUANT TO INVITATION FOR BIDS NO. 99-00-012 FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ROOM VENTILATION SYSTEM FOR THE SWITCHGEAR ROOM AT THE POLICE HEADQUARTERS BUILDING, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $6,971; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM ACCOUNT CODE NO. 312025.299301.6.830. WHEREAS, the Department of Police requires the replacement of the ventilation system in the switchgear room at its headquarters building because temperatures exceed 100 degrees posing a safety hazard; and WHEREAS, the transfer switches for Florida Power and Light and emergency power generators are located in the switchgear room which requires proper ventilation at all times;. and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-012 were mailed to forty-four (44) potential providers; and WHEREAS, one (1) bid was received on January 31, 2000; and CITY COI ISSION MEETING OF APR 1 3 2000 Resolution No. An -� 9 WHEREAS, funds are available from Capital Improvement Program Account Code No. 312025.299301.6.830; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Police recommend that the bid received from Weathertrol Maintenance be accepted as the only responsive and responsible bid; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2.. The bid received on January 31, 2000 from Weathertrol Maintenance, pursuant to Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-012, for the purchase and installation of a room ventilation system for the switchgear room at the police headquarters building, for the Department of Police, in an amount not to exceed $6,971, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.260. Funding is available from the Capital Improvement Program, Account Code No. 312025.299301.6.830. BACKGROUND The Department of Police has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 99-00-012. Forty- four (44) Invitations for Bids were mailed and one (1) response was received. Weathertrol Maintenance, submitted the only responsive and responsible bid and is, therefore, recommended for the award. The transfer switches for Florida Power & Light and for both emergency power generators are located in the switchgear room and require that proper ventilation be maintained at all times. The present temperature in the switchgear room exceeds over 100 degrees and poses a safety hazard.
