RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO IDENTIFY FUNDS
IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $200,000, WHICH
AMOUNT REPRESENTS THE CITY OF MIAMI'S
PARTICIPATORY .SHARE, ALONG WITH THE STATE OF
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, MIAMI-
DADE COUNTY, AND THE METROPOLITAN PLANNING
ORGANIZATION, TO COVER THE EXPENSES REQUIRED
FOR THE PREPARATION OF A COMPREHENSIVE MULTI-
MODAL TRANSPORTATION PLAN FOR THE DOWNTOWN
MIAMI AREA, AS RECOMMENDED BY THE DOWNTOWN
COMPREHENSIVE TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN TASK
FORCE,; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
REPORT HIS FINDINGS TO THE CITY COMMISSION AT
ITS MEETING OF APRIL 13, 2000.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 00-107, adopted
January 27, 2000, the City Commission established the Downtown
Comprehensive Transportation Master Plan Task Force ("Task
Force"), co-chaired by City of Miami Commissioner Johnny Winton
and Miami -Dade Commissioner Bruno Barreiro, to advise and make
recommendations related to the coordination and preparation of a
transportation master plan for the Downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the Task Force has made the findings that a
comprehensive multi -modal transportation plan for the downtown
Miami area is necessary; and
WHEREAS, existing traffic problems and various studies have
projected significant needs for the area related to its future
growth; and

WHEREAS, the costs of conducting such a study has been
estimated at approximately $600,000, which includes the City of
Miami's participatory share of $200,000, with the remaining
balance to be provided by the State of Florida Department of
Transportation, Miami -Dade County, and the Metropolitan Planning
Organization;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby directed to
identify funds in an amount not to exceed $200,000, which amount
represents the City of Miami's participatory share,_ along with
the State of Florida Department of Transportation, Miami -Dade
County, and the Metropolitan Planning Organization, to cover the
expenses required for the preparation of a comprehensive multi-
modal transportation plan for the Downtown Miami area, as
recommended by the Downtown Comprehensive Transportation Master
Plan Task Force.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby further directed
to report his findings to the City Commission at its meeting of
April 13, 2000.

Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'/

If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
