A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) TRASH
LOADER FROM PETERSEN INDUSTRIES, INC.,
AWARDED UTILIZING EXISTING CITY OF MIAMI
INVITATION FOR BIDS NO. 9.8-99-152, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $98,698.95, FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION
TO BE UTILIZED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM
THE PARKS AND RECREATION, PARKS VEHICLE
ACQUISITION, PROJECT NO. 331368.589301.6.840.
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 99-956, adopted December 14, 1999,
approved the purchase of 11 trash loaders from Petersen
Industries, Inc., for the Department of General Services
Administration to be used by the Solid Waste Department, pursuant
to Invitation for Bids No. 98-99-152, at a total amount not to
exceed $1,089,188.45; and
WHEREAS, the Department of General Services Administration
is requesting the purchase of an additional trash loader to be
used by the Department of Parks and Recreation for'the collection
of oversized trash items from City park facilities; and
WHEREAS, Petersen Industries, Inc. has agreed to the same
price, terms and conditions pursuant to Invitation for Bids
No. 98-99-152; and

WHEREAS, funds are available from the Department of Parks
and Recreation, Parks Vehicle Acquisition, Project
No. 331368.589301.6.840; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of General
Services Administration recommend that the purchase of an
additional trash loader from Petersen Industries, Inc., awarded.
pursuant to City of Miami Bid No. 98-99-152, be approved;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The acquisition of an additional trash loader
from Petersen Industries, Inc., awarded utilizing City of Miami
Bid No. 98-99-152, for the Department of General Services
Administration to be utilized by the Department of Parks and
Recreation, in an amount not to exceed $98,698.95, is hereby
approved, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the
Department of Parks and Recreation, Parks Vehicle Acquisition,
Project No. 331368.589301.6.840.

Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'/

RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing the purchase of one (1) trash loader from Petersen Industries, Inc., through a bid
awarded_ under an existing City of Miami Bid No. 98-99-152, in an amount not to exceed
$98,698.95. Funding is available from the Parks & Recreation Department, Parks Vehicle
Acquisition, Project No. 331368.589301.6.840.
BACKGROUND
The Department of General Services Administration is requesting the purchase of one (1) trash
loader to be used by the Department of Parks and Recreation. The requested purchase is necessary
for the collection of oaversized trash items from City of Miami's park facilities.

Subject: Terms of extension, for quotation concerning bid No. 98-99-152.
Dear Mr. Morales:
Accorclin8 to our records, our quote concerning bid No. 98-99-152 expired on
January 24, 2000.
As per our discussion February 10, 2000, Petersen Industries has located
one new International year 2000 model 4700 chassis at the August 1999 pricing
level. This unit has four options (stainless steel mirrors, transmission
temperature gauge, static non -suspension passenger seat and driver side air
ride seat) that are not included in the specifications quoted by Petersen
Industries to the City cf Miami concerning bid No. 9&99-152 (Trash Loaders).
Petersen Industries is prepared to honor the quote conceming bid No. 98-99-
152 with an increase in price of $383.00 to reflect the four options included on
the available new International year 2000 model 4700 truck chassis till March
31, 2000 for one new RS -3 Lightning Rear Steer.
Please to advised that the truck chassis is available to the first municipality
that secures it with a purchase order. Time is limited to secure this chassis and
we appredate your responsiveness to this matter.
In the event that we do not secure the above 2000 year chassis for the
Purpose of installing a Petersen RS -3 Lightning Rear Steer. Petersen Industries
is prepared to honor the quote coneeming bid No. 98.99-152 Wth an increase in
price of $554.65 to reflect the price increese of a new International year 2001
model 4700 chassis meeting the same specification as quoted on bid No. 98-89-
152 for one new RS -3 Rear Steer.
