HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-00-0159J-00-155 2/10/00 RESOLUTION NO. • 00 159 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO IMMEDIATELY TRANSMIT A LETTER TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD) TO CONFIRM APPROVAL BY HUD OF THE TRANSFER OF A GRANT AWARDED TO THE CITY IN AN AMOUNT OF $250,000, TO OPSAIL 2000 INC., FOR THE OPSAIL MIAMI 2000 CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City of Miami received notice from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) of a grant award from the U.S.' Congress in the amount of $250,000, explicitly for the OpSail Miami 2000 Cultural Exchange Program; and WHEREAS, since the City is not administering or operating this program, Opsail 2000 Inc., should be reflected as the direct grantee; and WHEREAS, HUD advised the City that it would approve the direct transfer. of the grant to Opsail 2000, Inc., upon receipt of a confirmation letter; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: ary comassM MEETING OF. FEB 1 0 2000 Rewlu im No. 00- 159, Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is directed to immediately transmit a letter to HUD to confirm approval by HUD of a grant awarded to the City of Miami by Congress in the amount of $250,000, to OpSail 2000, Inc., for the OpSail Miami 2000 Cultural Exchange Program. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'/ PASSED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of February , 2000.
