INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
January 19, 2000
DATE: FILE
SUBJECT: Coconut Grove Festival
Committee
REFERENCESFebruary 10, 2000 Agenda
ENCLOSURES: List of Members, Resolution
The Coconut Grove Festival Committee was created to make recommendations to the City
Commission concerning the expenditure of the Coconut Grove Special Events District Fund.
Please be aware that City Code Section 54-342(c) reads in part:
"Each member of the committee shall reside, own real property or have its
principal place of business in the Coconut Grove area. One City
Commissioner may be an ex officio nonvoting member of the committee, and
may be designated by the City Commission as the Committee's chairperson."
(Emphasis added)
Three appointments are needed at this time:
• Commissioner Teele has one nomination for seat currently vacant because Dorothy
Lee exceeded the number of absences allowed by the Code.
• Commissioner Winton has one nomination for seat currently held by Sky Smith,
who had been nominated by former Commissioner Plummer.
• Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for seat currently vacant because
Ramiro Arango exceeded the number of absences allowed by the Code.
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said
committee. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place
this issue on the February 10, 2000 agenda. This issue was partly deferred from the June
22, 1999, September 21, 1999 and the November 16, 1999 Commission meetings.
