WHEREAS, the Department of Solid Waste requires landscaping services at its administration building, located at 1290 Northwest 20 Street, Miami, Florida; and WHEREAS, foliage and sod are needed.at the entrance of the building and along the east and west walls of the building; and WHEREAS, landscaping would enhance the aesthetics of the property, promote pride in the workplace and boost the morale of employees; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public -notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-085R were mailed to seventy-six (76) potential providers of said service; and WHEREAS, two (2) bids were received on January 12, 2000; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF; FEB 10 2000 Resolution No. 00� -13 WHEREAS, two (2) bids were received on January 12, 2000; and WHEREAS, The City Manager and the Director of the Department of Solid Waste, recommend that Grove Nursery, Inc. be accepted as the.lowest responsive and responsible bid; and WHEREAS, fund are available from Capital Improvement Project No. 353015.329401.6.860; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on January 12, 2000, from Grove Nursery, Inc., to provide landscaping services at the City of Miami Solid Waste Administration Building for the Department of Solid Waste, pursuant to Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-085R, at a total proposed amount not to exceed $9,752, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby- allocated from Capital Improvement Project No. 353015.329401.6.860. BACKGROUND: The Department of Solid Waste is in dire need of landscaping around the administrative building, the entrance, and along the east and west wall of the facility located at 1290 NW 20 street. Specifically, there is a need for flowers, foliage and new grass (sod) due to weeds. Additionally, this landscaping project would enhance the aesthetics of the grounds as well as promote pride in the workplace and morale of the employees assigned to work at this facility.
