BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following individuals are hereby appointed as members of the Cultural and Fine Arts Board, each member to serve a term expiring January 12, 2001, or until the nominating commissioner leaves office, whichever occurs first: APPOINTEES: NOMINATED BY: Tony Wagner Commissioner Wifredo Gort Pedro Pablo Pena Commissioner Tomas Regalado Juan Carlos Espinosa Commissioner Joe Sanchez Florene Nichols Commissioner Arthur E. F REFERENCES: January 27, 2000 Agenda City Clerk ENCLOSURES: Resolution, List of Members The Cultural and Fire Arts Board was created to make recommendations and guide the city Commission its determination as to whether any art shall be accepted or acquired by the .city Commission; to seek and encourage public participation in all cultural and fine arts events; to attract art programs of other governmental, private or public agencies to the City; to coordinate and originate cultural activities within the City; to qualify community events as being officially recognized; to establish a Miami Art Museum and such branches as are necessary, subject to approval of the City Commission; to recommend acquisition of works of art by the City to be used and made available for the cultural betterment of the City of Miami; to appoint artists or other knowledgeable individuals as honorary board members, who shall advise and assist the board in the furtherance of its duties. All terms expire on January 12, 2000: • *Commissioner Winton has one nomination for seat currently held by Robert Flanders who had been nominated by former Commissioner Plummer. • Commissioner Teele has one nomination for seat currently held by Florene Nichols. • Commissioner Regalado has one nomination for seat currently held by Pedro Pablo Pena. • Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for seat currently held by Juan Carlos Espinosa. • Vice Chairman Gort has one nomination for seat currently held by Tony Wagner. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the City Manager place this issue on the January 27, 2000 agenda. *This issue was partly deferred from the December 14, 1999 Commission meeting.
