PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO ACCEPT THE DONATION. WHEREAS,.the Department of Police has received a donation in the amount of $1,500 from the K -Mart Family Foundation to be used exclusively by the Police Department's Drug. Abuse Resistance Education ("D.A.R.E.") Program; and WHEREAS, funds are for the purchase of D.A.R.E. program related workbooks or materials; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby .adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. A donation in the amount of $1,500 from the K -Mart Family Foundation, is hereby accepted, to be used exclusively by the Police Department's Drug Abuse Resistance Education ("D.A.R.E.") Program. Program RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting donations, in the amount of $1,500, awarded by the K -Mart Family Foundation to the Police Department's Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program. BACKGROUND As a result of K -Mart Corporation's national sponsorship of Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) America, directed contributions of $1,.500 were awarded to the Police Department's D.A.R.E. program. As a result of Kmart Corporation's national sponsorship of D.A.R.E. America, a directed contribution to your agency's D.A.R.E. program has been provided by Kmart Family Foundation. On November 13-14, 1999, members of your agency were scheduled to participate in a Kmart Kids Race Against Drugs (KKRAD) event at Kmart store #4728, located at 3825 7th St N/W. On behalf of Kmart Family Foundation, the Miami PD D.A.R.E, program has received $1500, as a directed contribution which may be used towards the purchases of D.A.R.E. educational materials or products from any of the four'authorized D:A.R:E. vendors. One hundred percent of the:funds contributed by Kmart Family Foundation to.your agency have been placed in a designated account at D.A.R.E. America. In an effort to facilitate access to this contribution it will be necessary to adhere to the following guidelines: 1. Purchases must be for D.A.R.E. program related workbooks/materials. 2. Purchases are to made through your choice of any of the four authorized vendors: D.A.R.E. America Merchandise, R&T Specialty, Tee's Plus and Treadway Graphics. 3. Enclosed is the order form to be used when making your purchase associated with this promotion. The order form has a numerical identifier unique to vour agencv. If you intend to place multiple orders you will need to make copies of the order form provided and return one complete order form for each authorized D.A.R.E. vendor used and each order placed. Be sure you are ordering from a catalog with current price listing. If necessary contact D.A.R.E. America Merchandise, R&T Specialty, Tee's Plus and Treadway Graphics for current prices. Please type or print legibly when completing your order form. Order Forms must be directed to D.A. R.E. America for processing. Allow 2 to 3 weeks for delivery of ordered materials. Each order placed will result in a deduction from your agency's designated account.
