WHEREAS, the electric rear gate arms are broken and beyond repair at the Department of Police headquarters building therefore replacement of two (2) electric gate arms and operating hardware is required; and WHEREAS, the electric rear gate is used to control traffic entering the compound to ensure the safety of personnel; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-010 were mailed to eighteen (18) potential providers; and WHEREAS, two (2) bids were received on November 29, 1999; and WHEREAS, funds are available from Department of Police General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.270; and CITY CONWSSION DIEETI.WG OF JAN 2 7 2000 Resolution No. w C� WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Police recommend that the bid received from TEM Systems, Inc., be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set .forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on November 29, 1999; from TEM Systems, Inc. for the purchase and installation of two (2) electric gate arms and operating hardware at the headquarters building for the Department of Police, in an amount not to exceed $5,276, is hereby accepted,.with funds,therefor hereby allocated from the Department of Police General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.270. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'/ 1� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. Funding is available from the Police General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.270. BACKGROUND The Department of Police has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 99-00-010. Eighteen (18) Invitations for Bids were mailed and two (2) responses were received. TEM Systems, Inc., submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid and is, therefore, recommended for the award. The electric rear gate arms presently installed at the Police Department's Headquarters Building are broken and beyond repair.
