BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a subcontractor, and a realtor. Pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 162(3)(b), all members serve three year terms. The Code Enforcement Board members during their meeting of November 17, 1999, after granting affected members due process and a chance to be heard, ratified the vacancies of Adolph King, Maria Hernandez and Robert Flanders. Five, appointments are needed at this time: • The Commission at -large has three appointments for seats as follows: 1. One alternate member vacancy* created because Adolph King, Jr. indicated to the Office of Hearing Boards that he was unable to continue to serve as a member. 2. One alternate member vacancy* created because Robert Flanders exceeded the number of absences allowed by the Code. 3. One regular member vacancy created because Jacqueline Cotarelo-Echagarrua resigned. • Commissioner Winton has one nomination for regular member vacant seat created because Luis E. Roca resigned. • Commissioner Regalado has one nomination for regular member seat previously held by Maria Hernandez, who exceeded the number of absences allowed by the Code. %_— For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the December 14, 1999 Commission agenda. *This issue was partly deferred during the July 13th, the September 21St and the December 14, 1999 Commission meetings. I hope that the remaining members of the board and newcomers will continue the difficult task of bringing so many cases of code violations into compliance. This task requires courage and steadfastness. However, our city residents and taxpayers expect nothing less from those serving the public trust. Lastly, I want to thank the property owners and taxpayers that have helped me, giving me encouragement throughout my term on the board. Someday, in the future, I hope to serve again the City where I have chosen to live and raise my, family. Again, thank you.
