HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-00-0035J-00-36 1/3/00 RESOLUTION NO. 0 0 0 3 5 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A USE FEE AT $2,500 PER EVENT DAY, FOR THE PRESENTATION OF THE "GOLD CUP 2000" SOCCER TOURNAMENT BY INTERFOREVER SPORTS, TO BE HELD FEBRUARY 12, 14, 16, AND 19, 2000 AT THE ORANGE BOWL STADIUM, FURTHER CONDITIONING SAID AUTHORIZATION HEREIN UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT, OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE, AND COMPLYING WITH ALL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Use Fee for the use of the Orange Bowl Stadium for the presentation of the "Gold Cup 2000" soccer tournament by Interforever Sports on February 12, 14, 16, and 19, 2000, is hereby authorized and established at a maximum of $2,500' per day. Section 2. The herein authorization is conditioned upon the organizers paying all necessary costs of City services and applicable fees associated with ,said event, obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as -prescribed by the City CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF JAN 1 3. 2000 Celution N t L] Manager or designee, and complying with all conditions and limitations as may be prescribed by the City Manager or designee. BACKGROUND The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities recommends that the Use Fee be capped at $2,500 per event day in order to secure this prestigious soccer tournament at the Orange Bowl Stadium. Last year, the organizers of this event hosted the 1998 Gold Cup at the Orange Bowl, which produced revenues of more than $162,000. Additionally, they have expressed their desire to hold more events of this caliber in the future at our facility. The City. will receive a Ticket Surcharge and retain all revenues from food and beverages and parking, in addition to the Use Fee. The event organizers will pay for all necessary costs of City services and applicable fees associated with the event. This event is expected to produce net revenues to the City in excess of $200,000.
