HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-00-0015J-00-18 1/4/00 RESOLUTION No. fo A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, TO ACCEPT THE OBLIGATIONS OF OWNERSHIP, MAINTENANCE AND LIABILITY OF THE "TRAILBLAZER SIGNAGE" (NEIGHBORHOOD IDENTIFICATION) IN THE CITY OF MIAMI'S OVERTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD. 9 WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation has agreed to fund "trailblazer signage" (neighborhood identification) for the City of Miami's Overtown area through its Local Agency Program, (LAP); and WHEREAS, Miami -Dade County Public Works Department has agreed to install the "trailblazer signage" on behalf of the City of Miami ("City"); and WHEREAS, the LAP agreement stipulates that the entity that installs devices will be responsible for ownership, maintenance and liability; and WHEREAS, Miami -Dade County is assisting. the City by obtaining funding, managing the project and having the trailblazer signage installed; and S a d I LY Id^1 � '� �i a A RD My COMOSSION flKEETING OF JAM 1 3 2000 Resolution a1,Vo� i WHEREAS, the project will not proceed until the City of Miami executes an Interagency Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation and Miami -Dade County accepting the obligations of ownership, maintenance of and liability for the "trailblazer signage;" and WHEREAS, the trailblazer signs contemplated for installation are intended to endure for extended periods of time with minimal need for maintenance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are -hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized" to execute an interagency agreement, in substantially the attached form, to.accept the obligations of ownership, maintenance and liability of the trailblazer signage (neighborhood identification) in the City of Miami's Overtown neighborhood. �i The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. l Page 2 of 3, .� Y1 Section 3. Warshaw ENCLOSURES : Resolution City Manager Copy of Agreement It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an interagency agreement to accept the obligations of ownership, maintenance and liability of trailblazer signage in the City of Miami's Overtown neighborhood. The City of Miami desires to extend the trailblazer neighborhood identification signage in the Overtown neighborhood and has requested State funds through the Florida Department of Transportation's Local Agency Program (LAP) to install the signs. The State has agreed to fund the complete project provided the Miami -Dade County Public Works Department install the signs and the City of Miami assumes the obligation of ownership, maintenance and liability. This obligation is a standard requirement for securing State funds from the Florida Department of Transportation's Local Agency Program (LAP).
