Amendments to Article 9, Section 916 of Zoning Ordinance 11000. N/A PETITION Consideration of amending Ordinance 11000, as amended, the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Miami, Florida by amending Article 9, Section 916 in order to modify provisions related to interim parking PLANNING RECOMMENDATION Approval. BACKGROUND AND This ordinance is being proposed due to a proliferation of ANALYSIS interim parking lots in the downtown area and a negative overall appearance as a result. Interim parking lots were never intended to be a permanent solution to major public facility parking needs. These lots do not provide sufficient landscape and as stated, the result has been adverse to the general appearance of certain areas of downtown Miami. By limiting interim parking lots to no more than one year, (with extensions granted only by the City Manager as set forth in the attached legislation) in which they must come into full code compliance (including landscaping), the Planning and Zoning Department are hoping to improve the appearance of downtown.
