ANALYSIS FOR AMENDMENT TO
ARTICLES 9 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE
APPLICATION: No. 2000-023
The proposed amendment to the Zoning Ordinance is being requested in order
to modify the temporary offsite parking requirements for construction crews in
order to allow for more than one annual renewal. Due to the increased number
of major development projects moving forward in the city, and the need to be
under construction in some cases for more than 2 years, this amendment is
necessary to allow for annual renewals so that construction parking can be
provided for the entire time a major development project is under construction.
The proposed language will be as follows:
"ARTICLE 9. GENERAL AND SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS
Sec.918. Offsite Parking.
918.2. Temporary offstreet offsite parking for
construction crews.
Permits for such parking shall be granted for a one (1) year
period allowing for ene (1) annual renewals.
The Planning and Zoning Department is recommending approval of the
proposed amendment finding that it will ensure sufficient time for offsite
construction parking to meet the needs of the development activity involved.
