HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-11891J-00-23 1/4/00 RIINpjw'MAN Ilktop Milk � AN ORDINANCE OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 11418, ADOPTED ON DECEMBER 12, 1996, WHICH ESTABLISHED INITIAL RESOURCES AND APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE SPECIAL REVENUE FUND, ENTITLED "PARTNERSHIP FUND"; TO INCREASE APPROPRIATIONS TO THE FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,000, SAID FUNDS RECEIVED AND ACCEPTED AS DONATIONS FROM VARIOUS PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF SAID FUNDS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF COMMUNITY EVENTS AND IN-HOUSE PROGRAMS, INCLUDING THE PUBLICATION OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S ANNUAL REPORT, SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE WITH ALL CITY CODE PROCUREMENT PROCEDURES; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 11418, adopted December 12, 1996, established initial.resources and initial appropriations for the Special Revenue. Fund, entitled "Partnership Fund" in the amount of $25,000; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Police Department sponsors numerous community events, and in-house programs; including publication of the Police Department's annual report; and 11891 0 qb WHEREAS, various private organizations are and have been willing to make monetary donations to offset costs associated with producing such events, and the annual report; and WHEREAS, any purchases would have to comply with applicable City Code procurement requirements; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF,THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2 September 9, particulars:l/ FUND TITLE: Section 2 of Ordinance No. 11537, adopted 1997, is hereby amended in the following RESOURCES: APPROPRIATIONS: PARTNERSHIP FUND Donations 550,000.00 $50,000.00 " ai Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted. The donations from various private organizations are hereby accepted and deposited into said Special Revenue Fund as provided in Section 2 hereinabove. Section 4. The expenditure of the funds is hereby authorized for the production of community events and in-house programs, including the publication of the annual report, subject to compliance with all City Code procurement procedures. Section 5. All ordinances.or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent of in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 6. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. Section 7. This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final reading and adoption thereof.�' PASSED ON FIRST READING BY TITLE ONLY this 13th day of January , 2000. It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Ordinance, amending Ordinance No. 11418, which established initial resources and initial appropriations for a Special Revenue Fund entitled: "Partnership Fund," hereby authorizing the use of said fund to sponsor various community events and in-house programs; including publication of the Police Department's annual report, and increasing appropriation to said fund in the amount of $25,000. BACKGROUND The Miami Police Department sponsors numerous community events such as; National Night Out, Holiday Affair in the Park, Crime Prevention Fair, Thanksgiving Basket Give Away, etc. Various private organizations are and have been willing to make a monetary donation to offset costs associated with these events. This "partnership" is a benefit to the community as a whole. The department also utilizes this fund for ,the publication of the annual report, which is distributed throughout the community. This Special Revenue Fund provides for a depository of monies until it is needed.
