A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
REQUESTING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THE
METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION FOR THE
MIAMI URBANIZED AREA OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
("MPO") FOR A STUDY OF THE SOUTHWEST EIGHTH
STREET COMMERCIAL CORRIDOR TO ANALYZE AND
EVALUATE COSTS AND ALTERNATIVES TO IMPROVE
THE TRAFFIC FLOW AND TO ENCOURAGE AND
PROMOTE INCREASED PATRONAGE FOR THE
BUSINESSES LOCATED ALONG THE CORRIDOR, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $125,000; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY
ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE; AND DIRECTING
THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED
OFFICIALS,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. Financial assistance from the Florida
Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Planning
Organization for the Miami Urbanized Area of Miami -Dade County
( "MPO" ) is requested for a study of the Southwest Eighth Street
Commercial Corridor to analyze and evaluate costs and
alternatives to improve the traffic flow and to encourage and

promote increased patronage for the businesses located along the
Corridor, in an amount not to exceed $1.25,000.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized!' to execute
all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a
copy of this Resolution to Governor Jeb Bush, Lieutenant
Governor Frank T. Brogan, President of the Florida Senate John
M. McKay, Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives Tom
Feeney, all members of the Miami -Dade County Legislative
Delegation, and to the Executive Director of the Florida
Department of Transportation, and all the members of the
Governing Board of the MPO.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all
requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but
not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.

If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become
effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was
passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City
Commission.
