HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-01-1258i 0 J-01--1068 12/11/01 ��ll c� p RESOLUTION No. V 1-12 5 S A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE STEPS NECESSARY TO CONDUCT AN ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY OF THE SOUTHWEST EIGHTH STREET COMMERCIAL CORRIDOR TO ANALYZE ALTERNATIVES TO IMPROVE THE TRAFFIC FLOW AND ENCOURAGE AND PROMOTE INCREASED PATRONAGE FOR THE BUSINESSES LOCATED ALONG THE CORRIDOR; AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $125,000, FOR SAID STUDY FROM AN ACCOUNT TO BE IDENTIFIED BY THE CITY MANAGER; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AGREEMENT(S) AND DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, three options to improve the traffic flow and encourage and promote increased patronage for the businesses located along the SOUTHWEST EIGHTH STREET COMMERCIAL CORRIDOR have been considered, including reversing traffic on Southwest Eight Street, reversing traffic with a shoulder on Southwest 7th Street, and providing for two-way traffic on Southwest 7" and 8th Streets; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to authorize an economic impact study for each of the above -listed options to ON 8ktTn�,11i'P Q1-1258 0 • determine which alternative will best serve the City of Miami and its citizens; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is directed and authorized to take the steps necessary to conduct an economic feasibility study of the SOUTHWEST EIGHTH STREET COMMERCIAL CORRIDOR to analyze alternatives to improve the traffic flow and encourage and promote increased patronage for the businesses located along the Corridor, with the allocation of funds, in the amount not to exceed $1.25,000, authorized from an account to be identified by the City Manager for the study. Section 3.
