O 1� 10 V 7 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION APPOINTING AN INDIVIDUAL AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI FIRE FIGHTERS' AND POLICE OFFICERS' RETIREMENT TRUST FOR A TERM AS DESIGNATED HEREIN. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following individual, whose name was selected from a list of six individuals submitted by the Miami Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), certified bargaining unit, is hereby appointed as a member of the Board of Trustees of the City of Miami Fire Fighters' and Police Officers' Retirement 'frust, to serve a term as designated herein: APPOINTEE:- TERM EXPIRATION DATE: Monica Fernandez March S, 2003 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 11" day of October, 2001. Resolution The Fire Fighters' and Police Officers' (FIPO) Retirement Trust was created to provide retirement benefits pursuant to the provisions of City Code Chapter 40, Division 2; to establish and maintain functions as are necessary to administer, manage and operate the retirement plan. Thcre. are nine members on said trust, appointed as follows: • One trustee selected by the City Manager • Two trustees selected by fire fighters • Two trustees selected by police officers • Four trustees selected by the City Commission (two of which are selected from list of six individuals submitted by International Association of Fire Fighters; and two selected from list of six individuals submitted by the Fraternal Order of Police) One appointment is needed at this time to fill vacancy created because Charles A. Mr. Hail served on the Board of Trustees for the past 16 years and has been instrumental in bringing to FIPO the financial strength and stability that it enjoys today, thus ensuring the safety of retirement benefits for all retired and active Miami Firefighters and Police Officers. Mr. Hall joined the Miami Fire Department in April, 1952 and served for nearly 27 years until March, 1979. He also served our Union for many years including as President of Local 587 from 1967-1969. Therefore, in accordance witri Section 40-193 (a)(1)(d) of the Miami Code, I am forwarding the names of the following six (6) individuals for your consideration to fill the vacancy created by Mr. Hall's resignation.
