Gimenez City Manager RECOMMENDATION m4 DATE : U� - I .'�� FILE: SUBJECT: Authorizing the purchase of Glock Pistols REFERENCES: Bid No. 00-01-209 ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting the bid of Lou's Gunshop & Police Supply, a Hispanic/Dade County vendor, located at 4151 Palm Avenue, Hialeah, FL 33012, for the purchase of Glock Pistols for the Department of Police, in an amount not to exceed $30,024. Funding is available from the Police General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.840. BACKGROUND The Department oi' Police has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 00-01-209. Thirteen (13) invitations for bids were mailed and three (3) responses were received. Both, International Protective Services, Inc„ and Lou's Gunshop & Police Supply, submitted tie responsive and responsible bids. Lou's Gunshop & Police Supply is, therefore, recommended for the award based on its geographical location and minority ownership of company. The Department of Police must issue .firearms to new police officers and replace stolen weapons and the loss of weapons due to retirements.
